Spray & Fuse Alloy

This hard weld overlay process provides excellent mechanical wear and high stress resistant attributes. Because they are impact resistant and do not rust, they provide an additional layer of protection to improve the overall performance of machined components.

This method is used by Mil-Spec to manufacture the wear sleeves and end shafts of the sink and support rolls that rotate inside a support ceramic bushing.

Our Engineering team will be pleased to assist you in selecting the best materials for the spray & fuse alloy process.

How It Works

Materials fusion happens as follows:

1- Thermal spraying by Flame Spray process, where materials used are composed of fusible alloys that metallurgically join with the base material.

2- then thermal treatment of high temperatures to the point of semi-melting with the substrate is done through a blowtorch or other heat source, raising the temperature of the part around 1,000 ºC.

A post thermal treatment of controlled cooling is carried out to guarantee the integrity of the layer after its application. The melting of the layer generates a dense coating of high hardness.
