The coating system with Slurry Coatings is a multi-layer inorganic coating. In the case of equipment such as gas and steam turbines, two layers are used, the first consisting of a sacrificial galvanized aluminum coating. The second is a chemically inert chromate/phosphate sealer topcoat.
The sealer considerably slows down the speed at which corrosives penetrate the base metal, thus increasing the life of the coating system in the harsh environments found on this equipment. The junction of these two layers, varying according to the material, forms the CD8725 or CD85380TS coatings.
In the case of compressors, in addition to the two layers, a third is applied with a fluoropolymer coating, Cascalon, to add anti-adherence and anti-fouling properties.
