How It Works

Arc Spray is an automated system for depositing high-performance thermal coatings on parts subject to corrosion and erosion.

Two consumable wires are fed through electrodes (nozzles and contact tubes) where they receive electrical charges, one with a positive charge and the other with a negative charge. When these two wires intersect, an electric arc is formed, generating temperatures around 4,000 ºC which result in melting the wires. Once this material reaches a molten state, molten droplet particles are propelled against the substrate at high speed by means of an atomizing gas, usually compressed air. They collide against the substrate and deform, generating lamellar coating structures.
